Dear Family &
Friends,
We trust 2007 has been a
wonderful year for you and your family.
The Torres family can attest to God’s grace and provision in our lives
this past year. The Lord truly
extends grace upon grace in our home, ministry, and community. Here are just a few glimpses of His…
God is Good! It has been a humbling year of
ministry for me. The Lord has taught me to live in the fear of the Lord always
(cf. Prov. 23:17) and how to triumph through trials. Much joy has come from the study of
God’s Word, playing the guitar and learning great hymns of the faith, visiting
families and establishing friendships with those in our church and
community. In June, I had the
opportunity to spend some time alone with the Lord at a beautiful beach condo in
Watsonville. Each morning I awoke
to the same routine of reading Scripture, long walks on the beach and meaningful
times in prayer. One of the books I
read was “Abide in Christ” by Andrew Murray. This served to be both refreshing and
encouraging to my heart as I was able to go to the Lord with many of life’s
struggles and questions.
God is
Righteous! God has used
this year to show Angie how He has set her apart as His child, a pastor’s wife,
a mother and servant of His flock.
Angie was able to join our women’s Bible study this summer where she was
challenged by the lives of women in the Bible and deepened friendships with the
women of New Hope. This fall our
group started an encouraging study on “The Mind of Christ” and Angie was able to
join her mom and sister, Kim, in reading “Disciplines of a Godly Woman” by
Barbara Hughes. God has been
faithful to Angie as she embraces her role as a pastor’s wife. This year was full of challenges and the
Lord graciously brought her through these times and has given her a renewed
sense of hope and vision for our life here on the Divide. Angie enjoys being the mother of two
toddlers. She has a busy schedule
with speech therapy for Isaiah on Mondays, pre-school on Tuesdays and Thursdays
where she continues to help out twice a month in a co-op program, story time at
the Georgetown Library, Awana on Wednesdays and home life the rest of the
week. Angie has taken on some new
ministry roles this year as the nursery coordinator and women’s ministry
chairman. She also continues to
help out on the worship team and with the youth group. Angie is excited about using the gifts
the Lord has given her to serve our congregation and community in these new
positions. Pray that God would
grant her great wisdom and discernment as she leads these two precious
groups.
God is
Awesome! Watching Isaiah
